As a school management consultant the experiences that I have gained through working with different schools and LAs has consolidated my leadership and management expertise. Through working with and understanding the many and diverse needs of schools I have seen how they have learnt to adapt government initiatives so they ‘fit’ with their own context, providing opportunities to enhance their student outcomes. This knowledge provides me with the ability to suggest to individual or groups of schools different scenarios which may provide simple solutions to the complex issues facing them.
My last post, Assistant Principal of a secondary school which was re-opened under a private/public partnership, involved the introduction of radical change. It was necessary for the leadership team to understand and manage the change process, including all the implications of cementing a team spirit which embraced the new ethos of the school.
I began my career in school financial management 12 years ago. Over this period of time I have attained an MBA in Educational Leadership and Management and I am currently working for my EdD in Educational Leadership. I have worked effectively as a school business manager and member of school leadership teams and with LA working parties providing advice on the financial and business planning and management of the schools.
I have been successfully providing training for support staff and bursars/business managers both within my work place and at various venues across the country for a number of years.
