That through concentrating on providing relevant support and CPD for their staff they believe that the students will automatically receive the best in everything I think most of us see the students as our core purpose.
The government is placing great importance on
improving attendance. New
attendance codes will be required to be used from September 2006. There is great debate on the powers invested in head teachers with regards to parent prosecutions but many feel that positive attendance strategies are more effective. Whichever way we look at it, the accurate recording and analysis of attendance data is a vital tool in improving student attendance and, in long term, student achievement.
Inclusion, many argue is making
student behaviour increasingly difficult to manage. The government’s working party is providing ideas on how schools can overcome poor behaviour and poor attendance. It is suggested that schools who have a clear behaviour management and attendance policy which is consistently applied by all staff manage to reduce the levels of poor behaviour and attendance. Other agencies are becoming involved in behaviour issues and with the employment of a more diverse workforce there is a great need for all support staff to be trained in the basics of positive behaviour management.
